কোভিড১৯(করুনা ভাইরাস ডিজিজ -২০১৯) প্রথম বাংলাদেশে একজন চিকিৎসক এর মৃত্যু নিশ্চিত করা হয়।
করোনা ভাইরাসের স্বীকার হয়ে একজন দায়িত্বরত ডাক্তার মোঃ মঈনউদ্দীন এর মৃত্যু হয়। তিনি আজ সকাল বেলা ইহলোক ত্যাগ করেন। ডাঃ মঈনউদ্দীন তিনি এম এ জি ওসমানী মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতাল সিলেটে দায়িত্ব রত ছিলেন। তার মৃত্যুর খবর নিশ্চিত করেন প্রেমানন্দ মন্ডল, জেলা সিভিল সার্জন সিলেট।
সিভিল সার্জন বলেছেন আমরা কভিড-১৯ এ মৃত চিকিৎসক এর পরিবারের সাথে যোগাযোগ করার চেষ্টা করেছি, কিন্তু তাদের কাউকেই ফোনে পাইনি। আমরা তার পরিবারের সাথে অতিসত্বর যোগাযোগ করার চেষ্টা চালাচ্ছি।
তত্ত্ব সূত্র জানায়, ডাঃ মঈন উদ্দীনের শরীরে করুনা ভাইরাসের উপসর্গ থাকায় তার পরীক্ষা করা হয় এবং ৬ই এপ্রিল তার শরীরে কভিড-১৯ পজিটিভ দেখা দেয়। এর পর ৭ই এপ্রিল তাকে শহীদ শামসুদ্দিন মেডিকেল হাসপাতাল সিলেট তাকে ভর্তি করা হয়।
তখন তাকে কুর্মিটোলা হাসপাতাল ঢাকায় ভর্তির জন্য আবেদন করা হয়। সময়ের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে তাকে ৯ই এপ্রিল কুর্মিটোলা হাসপাতালে ভর্তি নিশ্চিত করা হয়। কিন্তু তাকে আই সি ইউ তে ভর্তি করা হয় নি। কেন ভর্তি করা হয় নি সে খবর পাওয়া যায় নি। কুর্মিটোলা হাসপাতালে প্রায় ৬দিন চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় রাখা হয় তাকে। কিন্তু ১৫ ই এপ্রিল ( আজ সকাল বেলা) তিনি মৃত্যু বরন করেন।

এছাড়া বিভিন্ন তথ্য অনুযায়ী জানা গেছে চিকিৎসক সহ বিভিন্ন স্বাস্থ্য কর্মী করুনা ভাইরাসে আক্রান্ত হয়েছেন। সে জন্য অন্যান্য ডাক্তার দের নিরাপদের জন্য চিকিৎসক রা পর্যাপ্ত সরঞ্জাম সরবরাহের আবেদন জানান।
